Just So Camp
Students read and appreciate several of Rudyard Kipling’s beloved Just So Stories in this Authorcraft Writing Camp. During sessions, students learn about Rudyard Kipling and his writing style, the pourquoi story genre, fact vs. fiction, geography of the tales’ settings, story elements, literary terms, summarizing, sequencing, and relationships. They write summaries of each story and an imaginative “Just So” story of their own at the end of the readings. On the final day of class, students present their original stories orally. Parents and friends are welcome to attend this program and celebrate the students’ authorship.
This summer camp is part of Inkwell’s Authorcraft series.
Each work in the Authorcraft series is carefully chosen for its literary quality, worthwhile thematic content, and appeal to children. Students read a classic work of literature, appreciate its author’s craft, and then write an original work based on that author’s genre and style. Apprenticing with a master, students are poised for success.
June 18-21 and 25-30 (10 sessions–limited to 10 students)
The final program will be held on Saturday, June 30 from 10:00-11:00 AM.
