Doc Help
Need help with writing a paper? Our electronic document service supports your development as a competent, confident writer. To that end, it is important for you to learn on your own to make effective rhetorical choices and to align your paper with conventions of language and standards of formatting.
Understand that Inkwell’s Doc Help is not a paper writing service. We neither write nor rewrite papers. We guide you by posting comments and making suggestions. In this way, you both retain ownership of your paper’s content and control its outcome.
If you work diligently under our direction, you will produce a paper you can be proud of. We make no guarantee regarding the end result, though. You and your situation will determine that.

What Does Doc Help Cost?
All Doc Help tiers of service are billed in units that equate to the final maximum word count allowable for a particular assignment. The reason charges are calculated on the eventual length of a paper is to encourage you initially to “write big” until you access good content.
Too often, students stumble around getting started expressing ideas. By the time they reach the word limit, they have generated insufficient meaningful content. By removing any length limitation, we allow time and space to explore more effective and engaging development of ideas. Later on, all unhelpful wordage will be removed and all the excellent content kept!
For coaching and editing help, we recommend writing three to four times as long as the allowed length. You will not be charged for excessive wordiness! Per unit, the charge for coaching is $80, editing is $32, and proofreading is $16.
We work on deadlines. You must PLAN AHEAD. We cannot accommodate last-minute emergencies. Expedited service might be available for a 25% upcharge on a per-case basis.
Doc Help includes only what is detailed for each service tier. If you want additional help, you may engage a teacher at Inkwell’s regular tutoring rates.

How Can I Receive Help?
Fill out a Doc Help Request form. When completing it, you will submit the writing prompt or directions as well as any draft you may have begun. Then you will agree to Inkwell’s Terms & Conditions. As soon as we receive your payment and approve your project, we will notify you and begin your service.
What Levels of Service Do You Provide?
Proofreading
Proofreading is a good option if you are a strong writer confident in the merits of your document’s content, organization, style, and length, but you want another pair of eyes to catch any minor mistakes you might have missed. Expedited service may be available on a per case basis.
Proofreading is a check of your final draft for mechanical correctness. This service excludes evaluation of a paper’s content, organization, or style, although a proofreader may suggest editing service if it seems warranted. Proofreaders identify errors that need to be corrected by posting comments on an electronic document. You accept or reject the comments and make appropriate changes.
No email, phone, or videoconferencing support is included with proofreading.

Editing
Editing is a good option if you have strong organizational, grammatical, and mechanical skills but you want an unbiased perspective on the merits of your draft.
Editing is a mid-level service. An editor reads your paper holistically and analyzes its strengths and weaknesses, assessing whether it will effectively meet the goal of an assignment within the targeted word count. Suggestions focus on how the paper could be improved by adjusting style or tone or by adding, deleting, changing, or rearranging content. Though editors may make some general comments about the mechanics of presentation, their main concern is WHAT the message is and HOW it is communicated.
Editing includes a single reading of a paper only, with comments posted once. No email, phone, or videoconferencing support is included with editing.

Coaching
Coaching is a good option if you are inexperienced with managing long-term projects, confused about what a writing assignment is asking for, unable to generate meaningful ideas on your own, or just more comfortable with being fully supported so that you can ask and receive answers to questions.
Coaching is the most comprehensive document service, packaged to include both editing and proofreading as well as project oversight. It supports the entire writing process or any phase of it from planning to final presentation. Initially, a coach, acting as a “project manager,” will arrange a live Zoom consultation to explain the coaching process and answer your questions; discuss project requirements, priorities, and due dates; plan and establish a workable timeline to complete the project on schedule; brainstorm ideas; and strategize how to develop and organize those ideas.

Consultations included with writing coaching are conducted by videoconference to clarify needs and expectation. They are scheduled by Inkwell’s office and appear on your calendar, and dates and times scheduled are strictly observed. If you need to reschedule a consultation, you must reach your assigned tutor at least 36 hours in advance to make alternative arrangements. If you miss the consultation, you lose that part of your document service unit, and you will have to reschedule for an additional fee. If you wish to consult via Skype, you must provide your Skype ID on the Request for Doc Services form.
In order to allow for turnaround of a project by its due date, you must follow the written schedule agreed on during your initial consultation. That timeline will schedule the three electronic submissions included in the coaching package . . .
-
The 1st reading evaluates your paper’s strengths, suggests changes for improvement in its content and structure, and identifies concision techniques and possible text to cut in order to adhere to a word limit. You then revise the paper accordingly for content, organization, and length.
-
The 2nd reading evaluates the success of initial revisions, offering further recommendations, and suggests how to improve style. Once you have done your best effort to revise for implementation of suggestions and style, you submit your paper for a third and final time.
-
The 3rd reading involves proofreading, a brief check for typos and errors in grammar, spelling, mechanics, and format. The reader will suggest corrections for you to approve and make. You then make corrections on your own.
Coaching is a good option if you need help managing a project or you are just more comfortable with being fully supported while working on it.
