About

Inkwell began as a one-woman enterprise around a dining room table.

When enrollment grew beyond what one person could handle, Inkwell became a team.  We are committed to excellence and customer satisfaction in meeting students’ needs.

Experience: 40+ years

If you had asked me when I was a teen what the biggest decision of my life was, I’d have told you it was a choice my grandma gave the 10-year-old me. Which Christmas present would I prefer from her – a doll or a book? She skillfully sewed beautiful doll clothes . . . but I did love books! How I agonized over my decision!
No wonder I followed a career teaching language and literature to beloved students.

A self-driven introvert, I enjoy connecting deeply with people, helping them to understand themselves.

I have known that language arts and I were good friends since I was four – ever since a little desk with the alphabet imprinted along its edges sat near the Christmas tree. I memorized the alphabet that day and, curious about the sounds of letters, I soon read everything in sight.

From those early days sitting at my desk, “teaching” my dolls, I knew that I wanted a life filled with learning and teaching. I enjoy simplifying the learning process and asking meaningful questions to help students understand.

Every student has a unique learning style. I love working one-on-one with students to develop personalized strategies that will maximize their strengths, overcome their weaknesses, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Striving to make learning fun and relevant, I adapt curriculum to fit a student’s learning style with things like object lessons, games, memory aids, and art.

When not teaching, I enjoy hobbies and walking my adorable, slightly spoiled chihuahua, Chico.

ALL students can learn to read and write well. It is just a matter of figuring out how their brain works! I try to help each of my students find what works best for them and have a little fun in the process.

My greatest joy is the "light bulb" moment when a student suddenly understands something he/she has been struggling with!

A credentialed specialist in learning disabilities, I have extensive experience in teaching reading and writing but especially enjoy working with reluctant students.

Teacher

Experience: 35+ years

As a child I looked forward to the evenings when my mother would read poetry and stories to my siblings and me. Those moments with classic literature began a life-long journey into the world of language arts.

As a teacher, I enjoy positively influencing young lives, especially students in middle school. Over the years I have taught children using the classical curriculum model, developed and implemented a “Character Counts” program, and designed writing workshops for middle schoolers.
