Foundational Chart Book

This reference book is essential for upper elementary or middle school students as a primary source for answers to questions about grammar and writing. As students learn to use it, they develop skills and independence as writers. Topics are arranged alphabetically for ease of locating information, and there is a handy glossary of terms at the end of the book.

A handbook suitable for early elementary students and another for high school students are planned. Click here to order.

DiaGrammar Series Level I

Students who need a more hands-on approach to grammar, kinesthetic kids, visual learners, artists, mathematical minds, and word lovers enjoy this approach to the study of grammar.

These workbooks cover the parts of speech and the parts of sentences through diagramming — a technique of drawing blueprints of sentences. Under the direction of a teacher, students learn and practice identifying basic sentence parts, modifiers, phrases, clauses, and independent elements. Wherever possible, example sentences are those of good writers, and each lesson is paired with a poem that illustrates the targeted unit of grammar. Level I, which is recommended for grades 5-6, covers simple sentences.

Decoding Series

Sometimes the English language appears to have a secret code without a key to decipher. This book demystifies the grammar and usage of English. Concepts covered include mechanics and usage as well as the rhetoric of writing. It helps to prepare students for standardized college admissions tests by developing a competent, confident command of language. Under a teacher’s direction, the book can be supplemented with fun virtual experiments and online quizzes.
